All of the JETS classes are taught by professional engineers and scientists.
Classes will take place on Thursday evenings from 6-8p.m. starting February 3, 2022 - May 12, 2022.
2022 program tuition is $250. BRIGHT STARS MEMBER will automatically apply a 100% discount to the 2022 tuition rate for any student who registers by January 25th, 2022. A Complete registration form is required to participate in JETS.
CHOOSE FROM THESE COURSE OPTIONS:
Robotics and Drones – Students will learn about Drones and Robotics Technologies. Students will learn how engineers and scientists use drones and robots to help solve engineering problems on earth and in outer space, such as on the moon. Students will get the opportunity to build drones and robots as their final project in the class.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 5TH AND 6TH GRADE.
Civil Engineering: Water and Waste Water – Students will learn how civil engineers design and build water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants for the cities that they live in. Students will learn the difference between water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants. Students will go on field trips, play fun games, and enjoy hands-on engineering activities. As a final project, students will build models of a water treatment plant and a wastewater treatment plant.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 6TH – 8TH GRADES.
Aerospace Engineering – Students will learn about rockets, airplanes and how they have taken humans worldwide and into outer space. Students will research and discuss some of the new ideas of designing aircraft that accommodate Americans with Disabilities. As a final project, students will create and build aircrafts such as rockets and airplanes.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE.
Architecture – Students will learn the difference between becoming an architect and an engineer. Students will learn what it takes to become a licensed architect from Colorado’s first African American female architect.Students will also learn about interior design and how architects use their imagination to design some of the most elegant structures in the world. As a final project, students will create and build architectural structures.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE.
ConstructionManagement – Students will learn about the different careers in the construction industry. They will learn how Contractors build structures such as buildings, sidewalks, and other facilities to accommodate Americans with Disabilities. Students will go on field trips and participate in joint classes with the civil engineering and architecture classes.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE.
Civil Engineering: Roadways and Bridges – Students will learn how civil engineers design roads, highways, bridges, and other infrastructure so that people can travel safely to work, go on vacations and enjoy the beautiful cities in the United States. Classes will focus on designing infrastructures for Americans with Disabilities. Students will create bridges made of balsa wood for the CABPES bridge contest as the final project.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 9TH AND 10TH GRADE.
Computer Science – In the computer science class, students will learn coding using the popular Python programming language. They will work on progressively more fun and complex apps. Their final project will be a game that can be played by the visually impaired.
THIS CLASS IS FOR 11TH AND 12TH GRADE.
Project Management – Students will learn how project managers plan, schedule, and develop budgets to build multimillion-dollar engineering projects for major cities worldwide. Project managers will be responsible for planning and scheduling infrastructure systems for the 2022 JETS program featuring our theme of Engineering and Designing Smart Cities for Americans with Disabilities.
This class is for 11th and 12th grade.
